As our regular visitors know (and appreciate), we do not delve on politics unless we find a significant relationship with the themes and purpose of our web site. It can be argued that most politicians are very pragmatic in their use of religion: anything is good if it will bring votes and apart from truths and legends about Masonry being at the foundation of the America Republic, Judeo-Christian principles have guided American society and culture to our very days. Regarding the "Separation of Church and State" Wikipedia states:

The concept of separation of church and state refers to the distance in the relationship between organized religion and the nation state. The term is an offshoot of the phrase, "wall of separation between church and state," as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists Association in 1802.

The original text reads: "...I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."[1] The phrase was quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947. The phrase itself does not appear in the U.S. Constitution.

The First Amendment to the Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

which is quite something else from what has been pushed on soporific American minds. However, the harm has been done, and personally, I don't think that it will be possible to turn the clock back. I don't see repentance in the Land, but rather a going on to extremes of all kind, which were unthinkable just a generation ago. This is the reason that America will be judged by God. Someone may ask: is America responsible for all the evils in the world? Of course not, but America has been blessed by the Grace of God more than other countries, so, "... to whom much is given, much is required ..." and America is in heavy debt towards God, and His Judgment has been arriving, in increments and finally it will be poured as the Perfect Wave.

The President of the United States every year gives his report before a joint session of Congress describing the condition of the nation and future policies to be adopted, usually proclaiming at the end of their speech that "the state of the Union is strong." Let me tell you, dear American people, the state of your Union is not at all strong, and actually it is the very exact contrary. It is more or less 50 years that America has been on a slow and seemingly unstoppable descent. Sure, all Empires rise and fall in time, but America's downfall seems to me to be unique in its momentum. God has His ways to humble people and nations and it is up to those being called into account to heed the warnings. America has had many warnings, seemingly to no avail.

Just to sum up the last decade: attacked by terrorists in its very heart (New York and Washington), engaged in futile and vague wars with improbable enemies, its place of honor and strength among nations a former thing, its almighty dollar, reduced to nothing, suffered incredible natural disasters (Katrina, Rita, Gulf oil spill, etc.), its internal security, continuously at risk, its economy, in shambles, its future prospects decidedly negative, and I could continue with a detailed list.

Few are those who understand what is happening and why. In a few words, a nation who turns its back to God, Who made it prosperous, victorious and an overall winner, has nothing but woe coming its way. President Obama, the leader of the nation, describes himself as a Christian, but in all truth, his actions have said otherwise. Recently we received an e-mail which I found profoundly disturbing and at the same time very much related to what is happening in the United States. Please read through:

In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a "National Day of Prayer."

In 1988 President Reagan designated the First Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer.

In June 2007 (then) Presidential Candidate Barack Obama declared that the USA "was no longer a Christian nation."

This year President Obama canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of "not wanting to offend anyone"

Obama at mosque BUT... on September 25, 2009 from 4 AM until 7 PM, a National Day of Prayer FOR THE MUSLIM RELIGION was Held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House.
There were over 50,000 Muslims in D.C. that day.

I guess it doesn't matter if "Christians" are offended by this event - we obviously don't count as "anyone" anymore.

We do not have anything to say if the President want to honor another faith, but we have much to wonder and say if he does not respect the Christian faith to whom he says, is deeply devoted.

"Mr. President, you are considered a brilliant leader, you have a way with words, an uncommon intelligence, a lucid intellect, and a charismatic personality. May I humbly ask you why you it took you so long, then, to discern, (and only when forced by your presidential campaign advisors) that your friend and pastor, "Rev" Jeremiah Wright, who married you, baptized your daughters and under whose teaching you sat for so many years, was a racist, anti-semite, anti-american, and ultimately anti-christian? Surely through the years you must have noticed "something." Moreover, why are you ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ, Whom you profess to believe in as you did at your Georgetown speech and in so many other occasions?

I am a Christian believer, (like you say you are). I wonder what Bible version have you been reading through the years. Since the Word of God, affirms that it is God who appoints leaders, then your presidency has been given to you by Him and I pray for you as the Word admonishes believers to do. But given your stances, the question is whether you have been appointed to be a blessing or a judgment on your country. It is said that people have the leaders that they deserve and while it is true that you are not personally responsible for the slide into immorality and evil your country has been engaged for some time, your presence at the top, speaks volumes."

Why Obama Is Not A Christian: 7 Reasons

Man has always had within himself a desire to soar, both in spirit and physically. It is not at all strange this drive which in he last century has found a home in airplanes, rockets, spaceships, and space stations. Wanting to go higher, above it all, and look at things from a different perspective seems almost reasonable for a being which was formed at His Creator Image. Something within man yearns to lift him higher, but, alas, the result of this drive has instead taken him into the lower depths of his existence. Of course, sin and rebellion are the causes of man not being able to reach for the sky, but sin and rebellion will not stop man from trying.

It is recorded in the Word, that early man displayed this very attitude which found its fulfillment at the construction of the tower of Babel:

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
Genesis 11:4

We know what happened next. The tower which the people were building was left unfinished and got the name Babel, which means "confusion" or "mixture," became a place of divine judgment upon a rebel mankind.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Genesis 11:9

To this day, the word Babel it is a proverb and a symbol for confusion. One would think that the lesson has not been lost but indeed it has.
This was then. And the following is here and now.

Dubai Burj Khalifa inscription photo of inscription posted at Burj (Khalifa) Dubai

Burj (Khalifa) Dubai, the tallest building in the world was recently completed and inaugurated, with much pump and fanfare, in the city of Dubai. Soaring at 828 meters, it stands a monument to man creativity and ability, a marvel of engineering, from top to bottom. Indeed, as the Word states, "nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." Man can indeed soar, but in his rebellious state, will fall to the ground and his attempts end to nothing.

In the observation deck on top of Burj (Khalifa) Dubai, visitors can read the following inscription, which is reproduced in the above picture:

I am the power that lifts the world's head proudly skywards, surpassing limits and expectations. Rising gracefully from the desert and honoring the city with a new glory, I am an extraordinary union of engineering and art, with every detail carefully considered and beautifully crafted...'

'I am the power that lifts the world's head proudly skywards, surpassing limits and expectations. Rising gracefully from the desert and honoring the city with a new glory, I am an extraordinary union of engineering and art, with every detail carefully considered and beautifully crafted...'

I am the heart of the city and its people, the marker that defines Emaar's ambition and Dubai's shining dream. More than just a moment in time, I define moments for future generations...'

Same arrogance, same pride as in Babel. Same words uttered thousands of years ago, in the face of God, Who, did not let things go as they thought, but judged them right there and then.

And God is about to judge Dubai and mankind at large, make no mistake about this.

As for the inner desire of man to lift himself above the earthly, yes, the fulfillment of this dream is also very near. We have to understand one thing very clearly: it is not bad or evil wanting to lifts ourselves from the human condition, limited and at times sadly tragic. The problem is HOW WE GO ABOUT IT. If we try to do it placing God aside (a very futile and doomed attempt), we may indeed soar at times, but the higher we go, the faster and the harder we will fall down. But if we do it in the Grace of God, (read SALVATION IN CHRIST) oh, the story changes and the dream becomes reality. Guaranteed. Listen to this which will befall all true believer of the Messiah Jesus:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

We will indeed soar, in spirit, mind, and body. A total experience! A most amazing, unique, irreversible, electrifying, glorious, transfiguring event! By reservation only.

The Signs of the End which the Lord Jesus Christ gave to His disciples do not expressly include DNA and cell manipulation, but I am positive this is a fundamental part of His speech (as found in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 17). In my humble opinion, these activities impinge directly upon the Creator's creation, and He is not just going to stand for too long before He will raise His right arm of Judgment upon an arrogant and foolish humanity: arrogant because man thinks he can improve upon what He did, and foolish because they do not count the consequences of their dangerous science which will follow as sure as the sun rises in the east.

Another comment has to be made on the word being used here: "create." That is highly inappropriate and totally incorrect. Man has no capacity to create anything. To create means to bring forth something out of nothing. We use the term "create" to indicate an artist's work (a song, a painting, a sculpture, an idea) but this is inspiration and it's in another department. Only God can create anything from nothing, just by the Word of His power.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. - Genesis 1:3

Well, man definitely is out of that league. But man can take the things which God has created and manipulate them, coming up with altered and certainly dubious versions of the original. In the last few years we have gone from Genetic Modification, (changing organisms genetic code manually), also called Genetic Engineering, through the sequencing and mapping of the genome, human and otherwise, to the stem cells revolution, to the latest exploit of science: "creation of life, albeit artificial life" which in scope and reach is a notable jump forward in science's knowledge and ability. As the following article describes, the stakes are pretty high, but the outcome is

artificial life cell

This is the photographic representation of the synthetic "created" cell.

Scientists at the J. Craig Venter Institute have created a synthetic cell that can survive and reproduce itself according to an artificial DNA sequence, promising designer genomes with which researchers can produce sophisticated artificial organisms. The new bacterial cell, "Mycoplasma mycoides JCVI-syn1.0," is the result of a 15-year, $30 million effort by genetics pioneer Craig Venter. The study, led by the institute's Dan Gibson, is reported in the May 21 edition of the journal Science. The team of 25 researchers took Mycoplasma capricolum bacteria and completely rewrote its genetic code of more than 1 million base pairs of DNA. The data was sequenced as chemical DNA fragments and sewn together using yeast and E. coli bacteria.

The synthetic genome was transplanted into empty Mycoplasma mycoides bacteria, which were transformed into a new species. The creature's software-like name, JCVI-syn1.0, reflects its status as the first of its kind. To prove the genome is synthetic and to assert their ownership, the scientists even "watermarked" it by forming encoded words with the alphabet of genes and proteins. They included three quotations, among them a line from "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" by James Joyce: "To live, to err, to fall, to triumph, to recreate life out of life." They also added a URL and e-mail address to allow researchers who decode the words to notify the institute. Venter intends to patent the new cells, produced with funding from Synthetic Genomics, a genomics company that he founded in 2005. Although the cell is primitive and lacks its own membrane, the techniques developed to create it promise groundbreaking advances in gene engineering and the rise of designer genomes.

The achievement also raises ethical questions, not only about the creation of artificial life but the legitimacy of patenting it."The ability to routinely write the software of life will usher in a new era in science, and with it, new products and applications such as advanced biofuels, clean water technology, and new vaccines and medicines," the institute, located in Rockville, Md., and San Diego, said on its Web site.

Scientists who were not involved in the study are cautioning that the new species is not a truly synthetic life form because its genome was put into an existing cell. But they are also hailing the results. Quoted in The Wall Street Journal, biologist Richard Ebright of Rutgers University called it "a turning point in the relationship between man and nature." Scientists create synthetic cell, version 1.0

As usual, the real motivation is the love of money (see patents) but cunningly they pass this to the general public as unselfish efforts to help humanity overcome sickness and diseases. I have read enthusiastic comments to these latest news: finally mankind, is on the edge of immortality, finally man can choose exactly what and how he wants to live. Godhood with a little help from science.

A poem, a truth!

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin'.'
I'm whispering 'I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!
