NEW WORLD ORDER

PUTIN SPEAKS OF NEW WORLD ORDER
Pravda.ru - Nov. 16, 2001 President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation spoke of a new concept of politics, based not upon fear but upon the political will of peoples. Responding to Washington’s unilateral bid to downsize its nuclear arsenal by two thirds, President Putin declared that Moscow would do the same, over three phases, until a minimum number necessary for national security was reached. This should be around 2,000 nuclear warheads each, creating a strategic balance.

He declared that “Our countries have stopped hating each other, which allows both of us to get rid of what was a terror for the world, namely nuclear arsenals and other weapons of mass destruction”. Regarding the new world order, the Russian president stated that “We do not need to frighten each other any more to reach agreements. It is not piles of scrap that create security. Security is created by the political will of peoples, States and their leaders”.

The new world order, based very firmly on the Moscow-London-Washington axis, is cemented on mutual trust, collaboration and friendship, instead of the suspicion, hatred and deceit apparent during the Cold War years.

Gorbachev Says Sept 11 Victims Didn't Die in Vain
(Reuters) - October 25, 2001

MADRID - Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev said on Thursday the victims of the September 11 attacks in the United States will not have died in vain if world leaders use the crisis to create a new world order.

``These victims will not be in vain if the world reflects and looks at itself in the mirror,'' Gorbachev told a news conference in Madrid, where he was attending a conference.

``If we act as we did (after September 11), uniting efforts of fighting against terrorism, if we maintain the coalition, we will not only prevent a new Cold War, but we could get a new world order that is so desirable for all of us.''

More than 5,000 people were killed in last month's U.S. suicide hijackings on New York and Washington. The U.S. government says its prime suspect, Saudi-born dissident Osama bin Laden is hiding in Afghanistan

Gorbachev, who took over as Soviet leader in 1985 and oversaw the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan four years later, expressed support for President Bush. He said the campaign against Afghanistan was not a ``war'' but rather a strike against terrorist organizations.

``You can only defeat Afghanistan by destroying it as a nation and that would be a crazy plan,'' he said.

Gorbachev said any post-Taliban political system in Afghanistan should reflect the country's ethnic composition and that the United Nations

European bishops urge controls to stem rise in world poverty
ENI - Oct. 24, 2001

Oxford. A report commissioned by Roman Catholic bishops from European Union countries has called for a system of global governance to counter world-wide poverty and instability. The report said world-wide economic interdependence had "grown extraordinarily" in a single generation - with a tripling of trade in goods and services since the 1970s - and would "neither stop nor go into reverse". However, the difference between rich and poor countries has doubled since 1960, with the richest 20 countries enjoying per capita incomes 40 times those of the poorest 20, according to the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community (COMECE).

Cronkite: Strengthen UN as a first step toward a world government
The Washington Times - Fri Dec 3, 1999

"It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace. To do that, of course, we Americans will have to [give up] some of our sovereignty. . . . It [will] take a lot of courage, a lot of faith in the new order. . . . ", said Walter Cronkite's Oct. 19 in a speech to the World Federalist Association (WFA).

The former CBS broadcaster made suggestions "for immediate action that would move us in a direction firmly in the American tradition of law and democracy." His suggestions are (among others): " Ratify the Treaty to Ban Land Mines, the Law of the Sea Treaty, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, the Convention to Eliminate All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Most important, we should sign and ratify the Treaty for a Permanent International Criminal Court. That court will enable the world to hold individuals accountable for crimes against humanity."

Mr. Cronkite who gave the speech at the United Nations in New York City, where he accepted the WFA's Norman Cousins Global Governance Award, continued, "some of you may ask why the Senate is not ratifying these important treatiesand why the Congress is not paying our U.N. dues. Even as with the American rejection of the League of Nations, our failure to live up to our obligations to the United Nations is led by a handful of willful senators who choose to pursue their narrow, selfish political objectives at the cost of our nation's conscience."

"They pander to and are supported by the Christian Coalition and the rest of the religious right wing. Their leader, Pat Robertson, has written that we should have a world government but only when the Messiah arrives. Any attempt to achieve world order before that time must be the work of the devil. This small but well-organized group has intimidated the Republican Party and the Clinton administration. It has attacked each of our presidents since [Franklin D. Roosevelt] for supporting the United Nations. Robertson explains that these presidents were and are the unwitting agents of Lucifer."

" The only way we who believe in the vision of a democratic world federal government can effectively overcome this reactionary movement is to organize a strong educational counteroffensive stretching from the most publicly visible people in all fields to the humblest individuals in every community. That is the vision and the program of the World Federalist Association.

EARTH CHARTER DRAFT & WORLD ANIMAL DAY

I. Earth Charter Draft
An Earth Charter is being drafted for presentation at the State of the World Forum later this month. Author Samantha Smith states:

"This website is critical for the purpose of studying the Earth Charter draft, that will be presented at Gorbachev's State of the World Forum the end of this month, by Steven Rockefeller. This charter has been referred to by Maurice Strong as the 'Magna Carta for the Earth' and will have serious consequences for us all, negating any 'rights' we have as human beings. It provides the pagan/pantheistic basis for the 'rights' of a 'living earth.'" Maurice Strong' interview on the People's Earth Charter is cloaked in language typical of totalitarian schemes (i.e, "People's Republic of China"):

http://www.earthcharter.org/welcome/mstrong.htm
"I challenged governments to produce an Earth Charter. They made progress. They created a Rio Declaration. But, they did not complete the job of agreeing on an Earth Charter, and therefore people are now taking up this. People, through their organizations and through the Earth Council, who is working with many others around the world to help ensure that this task of formulating a universal Earth Charter, ...will command the support of people throughout the world and by commanding their support, as the true voice of people -- after all, the United Nation's Charter begins "We the People..." Well, the Earth Charter is going to be a product of people's commitments, and those commitments will clearly serve to motivate governments.

Earth Charter Campaign http://www.earthcharter.org/
Drafting a statement of ethical principles similar to the UN Declaration on Human Rights that will guide the conduct of people and nations towards each other and the Earth to ensure peace, equity and a sustainable future.
During the two years leading up to and including the Earth Summit, NGOs and government delegations from around the world worked on elements of the Charter. Still, governments could not reach agreement on an Earth Charter and instead adopted the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, which valuable as it was, did not meet the expectations of a Charter.

Earth Charter Benchmark Draft http://www.earthcharter.org/report/rio5/earth_en.htm
[The Earth Charter Benchmark Draft calls for non-violence and balanced relationships with other life forms, which will preclude the use of animals for food and encourage a return to pagan worship.]

II. World Animal Day

http://www.animal.discovery.com/animalpages/wad-98/wad.html Celebration of World Animal Day, which falls on the first Sunday in October, is being encouraged in church services. On October 6, 1991, at the New Age St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York City, 6,000 congregants and their pets celebrated the feast of St. Francis of Assisi who honored Creation and the interrelatedness of all things. Last Sunday, a Dutch Roman Catholic Church in The Hague held a similar service.

The infiltration of pantheism into the Church via New Age change agents is preparing Christians for agreement to a "People's Earth Charter." To this end, a Program for the Earth Charter Millennium Campaign is planned, "To involve various sectors of society to translate Earth Charter principles into professional and organizational work ethics, educational curriculum, RELIGIOUS MINISTRIES, development plans and personal commitments on sustainable consumption and lifestyles..." (caps added)

Evangelical leader, Tony Campolo, has been on the vanguard of this campaign for several years. Campolo also honors St. Francis of Assisi and espouses the New Age philosophy of pantheism in his book, PARTLY RIGHT. A popular speaker at youth conferences sponsored by Campus Crusades, other evangelical organizations and churches, Campolo has been described as a theistic evolutionist, who draws his insights from Karl Marx, Paul Tillich, Martin Buber, and Teilhard de Chardin. Biblical Discernment Ministries states:

"There has never been much doubt that Campolo is an environmentalist wacko (which ties in nicely with his New Age pantheism). Campolo even goes so far as to call environmentalism a fruit of the Spirit (from an article titled 'Rescuing the Earth,' in Salt & Light, a 1993 political-activism book edited by David J. Gyertson): 'Spirituality and creation-care are tied together. To be properly committed to the one should lead us inevitably to the other.' [Campolo also thinks Christians should form a "Christian Green Party"--Chapter 11 of How to Rescue the Earth Without Worshiping Nature, titled "The Greening of the Church.']"

Today's ENI report on The Hague's Roman Catholic celebration of World Animal Day is followed by an excerpt on the Gaia service held in St. John the Divine Cathedral
